BFT Gate Parts & Welding in North Hollywood: What to Know First
We provide independent BFT gate parts and welding service across North Hollywood, and most hinge, post, rail, and roller jobs are completed the same day we diagnose them. The written price is handed to you before any work starts, so there’s no surprise invoice at the end. This page is for homeowners with a BFT motor, BFT gate operator, or simply a gate that carries BFT hardware and needs structural work done right the first time.
Whether your gate is sagging on worn hinges, the post has shifted out of plumb, or a weld has cracked at the bracket, call (213) 566-1045 and we’ll tell you what we think over the phone before we even schedule the visit.
How BFT Products Fail - and How We Fix Them
- BFT Deimos and Phobos swing operators pulling hinge welds apart. These are strong operators, but when the gate is heavy and the hinge is a thin surface weld, the operator wins. In North Hollywood we regularly see Deimos BT A400 units where the force of the arm has torn the top hinge clean off the post. We cut the old hinge off, grind the post face flat, and weld a heavier barrel hinge with full perimeter welds, not just two tack points.
- Cracked rack welds on BFT sliding gates. Sliding gate racks take constant load, and the original tack welds between the rack sections and the gate frame are the first thing to go. We see this often on BFT Aries and Botticelli slide systems. The symptom is a gate that jerks or ratchets as the gear passes over the cracked section. We remove the old weld, realign the rack so the teeth mesh cleanly, and run a continuous weld with proper penetration.
- Post movement on BFT sliding gate tracks. BFT slide motors under 24V DC are smooth, but they don’t compensate for a post that has drifted a few millimeters. In North Hollywood’s clay soil, posts shift seasonally. We find the gate dragging because the track is now an inch out of square. We either reset the post in new concrete with a wider base plate, or weld an adjustable track shoe so the gate glides true again.
- Hinge barrel wear on BFT swing gates that see daily use. Most BFT swing gates in North Hollywood don’t fail at the motor, they fail at the hinge. The barrel wears into an oval, the gate drops, and the motor sees load it wasn’t built for. We replace the hinge with a greased ball-bearing barrel hinge, weld it in place, and set the gate height before it ever touches the operator again.
- Latch and lock misalignment after welding repairs. We see this a lot: a gate company welds the hinge back on but never checks the latch strike. Now the gate closes but doesn’t lock. When we finish any welding on a BFT gate, the latch, the strike plate, and the photo-eye alignment are all checked before we leave. If the strike needs moving, it gets moved.
Our BFT Gate Parts & Welding Process

- 1
You call, we answer. A live person picks up at (213) 566-1045, day or night. We ask what the gate is doing, what motor is on it, and what it sounds like.
- 2
We arrive and inspect. We look at the hinge, the post, the welds, the rack, the track, and the operator mounting. We measure what has moved and by how much.
- 3
We hand you a written price. Before any tool comes out, you get a line-item quote that names the hinge size, the part, the welding hours, and the total. That number doesn’t change unless you ask for extra work.
- 4
We do the repair. We cut out the old, grind clean, weld the new part in, and paint the weld to match. We use OEM BFT parts when the job calls for them and quality aftermarket parts when they meet or exceed spec at a better price. We tell you which one we’re using and why.
- 5
We test the gate. We run the BFT operator through open, close, and obstruction cycles. We check the limit switches, the photo-eyes, and the latch strike.
- 6
We leave the record. You get photos of what was found, what was replaced, and what the final weld looks like. The same record is filed in our system so next time, no one has to guess what happened.

AfterWhat BFT Gate Parts & Welding Costs in North Hollywood
Every job is quoted in writing before work begins, but here are the ranges we typically see across North Hollywood:
- Hinge replacement (welded barrel hinge, one hinge): $180-$340
- Post straightening and re-anchoring with new base plate: $450-$900
- Rack repair (remove, realign, re-weld, per section): $200-$500
- Weld crack repair at the operator bracket or frame: $150-$350
- Latch and strike replacement with welding: $220-$480
- Full gate square-and-reset (both hinges, latch, and alignment): $600-$1,200
What moves the price: gate weight, access to the back of the post, whether the old weld has to be ground out first, and whether the operator needs recalibration after the frame work. You’ll always know the number before we start. Call (213) 566-1045 for an exact quote, estimates are free.

FAQs
We use both, and we tell you which one is going on your gate and why. OEM is the right call when the part is still in production and the difference is small. We recommend aftermarket when the OEM part is discontinued or when a heavier aftermarket hinge or roller will outlast the original on a daily-use North Hollywood gate. Either way, the part number goes on your written record.
Welding on the hinge, post, rack, or gate frame does not void a BFT operator warranty, because those parts are not part of the operator unit itself. As an independent BFT service provider, we’re careful to isolate the operator and disconnect power before any welding, so the control board never sees stray current. If you’re unsure about a specific warranty, we’ll note it in the written quote before we start.
Most hinge, roller, and latch failures in North Hollywood are scheduled same-day or next-day. We don’t promise a same-day slot we can’t keep. Call (213) 566-1045 and we’ll tell you honestly what the calendar looks like.
If the motor is under eight years old and the gate frame is structurally sound, repair almost always makes more sense than replacement. A good weld adds ten to fifteen years to a gate, and it costs a fraction of a full install. We’ll tell you if the post is too far gone for a weld, and if so, we’ll quote the replacement in writing before anything gets torn out.
Name what you found. Name what it costs. Leave the gate straight. Call (213) 566-1045 for BFT gate parts and welding in North Hollywood.
